Starting January 16, 2016

Annie Leibovitz's new photographs, which have been commissioned by UBS, will be shown in 10 cities over the next 12 months. The tour starts in London in January 2016. Host cities will include Tokyo, San Francisco, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mexico City, Istanbul, Frankfurt, New York and Zurich.

The store design was created by architect Kengo Kuma, utilizing bamboo and large open spaces to create a sense of unity with the outdoors and spark the imagination of those who enter.

Thousands of pigments fill glass vials below the slatted wood ceilings of the new concept Pigment, an art supply laboratory and store that just opened in Tokyo by company Warehouse TERRADA. The store design was created by architect Kengo Kuma, utilizing bamboo and large open spaces to create a sense of unity with the outdoors and spark the imagination of those who enter.

In recent years fewer artists have turned to more traditional methods of art making, diminishing the number of successors to these older forms. Pigment aims to provide hard-to-find tools for the preservation of older paintings while also inspiring the latest generation of artists to incorporate these older materials into newer works. In addition to selling brushes, pigments, special glues, and papers (some used in Japanese painting since the Meiji period), the store will also provide workshops by both art professors and manufacturers of the supplies housed in-store.

OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS 10th Edition of the International Arte Laguna Prize

The major collective exhibition which will take place in the historical location of the Arsenale in Venice in March 2016.

British Museum boss MacGregor leaves Lampedusa cross

British Museum boss Neil MacGregor's final acquisition before stepping down is a cross made from the wreck of a refugee boat sunk in the Mediterranean.

The 2013 Lampedusa Cross was made and gifted by carpenter Francesco Tuccio, who lives on the Italian island.

The boat was carrying more than 500 refugees from Eritrea and Somalia, of which 151 people survived

El crítico y curador peruano Gustavo Buntinx alertó sobre la crisis que está atravesando el mundo artístico y propuso alejarse "del gran ruido del arte contemporáneo"

El jueves último tuvo lugar la segunda jornada de Sur Global: Horizontes para una nueva Bienal de Arte, una actividad de intercambio entre artistas, curadores, críticos, coleccionistas y público en el Muntref (sede Hotel de Inmigrantes).

En ella, el historiador del arte, crítico y curador peruano Gustavo Buntinx se refirió -sin eufemismos- a la crisis por la que atraviesa el mundo del arte. A continuación repasamos los extractos más salientes de su alocución:

"En el mundo del arte se falsifica hasta las obras inexistentes."

"El arte crítico hoy corre el riesgo de morir de éxito."

At the international conference on climate COP21 (Conference of parties), which takes place between 29 November to 11 December 2015 in Paris, the second day brought together 150 heads of State about the question of the “last chance” to curb climate change. The whole of society, the art world included, is acting. While culture has been recognized by the UN as three complimentary pillars of sustainable development-social, economic and environmental- the UN conference is accompanied by an extensive cultural program. This massive commitment of institutions and artists seems to mark a turning point in the mobilization of society against climate change and a new step for the holistic of contemporary art.

International Surrealism Now is a project by the surrealist painter Santiago Ribeiro, who has dedicated himself to promoting the surrealism of the 21st century, through exhibitions worldwide.

The "International Surrealism Now" began in 2010 in Coimbra, when Santiago Ribeiro conceived a major exhibition organized by Bissaya Barreto Foundation. This event has been in Conímbriga celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Monographic Museum (second most visited museum in Portugal). The show has also been in Paris with the support of GAPP - Art Gallery Portugal Presente and Liba WS, organized once again by the Bissaya Barreto Foundation and Santiago Ribeiro, and in Madrid with the support of Yamal Din. After that it went to Dallas with the support of the American surrealist artist Shahla Rosa.

Lately it has been presented at the medieval Castle of Paço da Ega, organized by Rede de Bibliotecas and House Mayor of Condeixa-a-Nova

At present, the "International Surrealism Now" includes artists from 28 countries: Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Spain, USA, Philippines, France, Holland, Indonesia, England, Iran, Iceland , Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Vietnam.

The exhibition consists of a variety of artworks including drawing, painting, photography, digital art and sculpture.

El pasado 25 de julio, el Sr. Fors, Alcalde de Arenys de Mar, en presencia del Sr. Pascual, Concejal de Turismo y el Sr. Masgrau, Gerente del Ayuntamiento, comunicó a la Sra. Blanch, Sra. Unterlohner y Sr. Ybern, representantes de la Asociación Jano, que el proceso para la tramitación de la concesión administrativa de los terrenos municipales, solicitada por la Asociación, el pasado 1 de abril, se iniciaba oficialmente para convocar en el plazo más breve posible, el concurso público legalmente necesario. En la reunión, a la que asistieron los arquitectos D. Toni Poch y D. Ramón Artigas, se coordinó una reunión técnica con el Sr. Masgrau, para el próximo mes de septiembre, en la que se concretará y definirá los parámetros y otros temas urbanísticos del avance de proyecto presentado por la Asociación.

PRESENTACIÓN DEL PROYECTO CONCORDIA

Una delegación de Jano Asociación, compuesta por Arnau Puig, Comisario Artístico de Concordia. Miquel Abellán Director del Proyecto Concordia. Joan Puig, Director de Imagen de Jano Asociación. y Julio Ybern, Presidente de Jano Asociación. ha presentado hoy el proyecto CONCORDIA, a Llucià Homs, Director de Promoció dels Sectors Culturals, de l’Institut de Cultura de Barcelona, del área de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona, en el Palau de la Virreina. En la reunión, se ha explicado el Proyecto (ver nuestra web www.asociacionjano.es), y se ha solicitado el apoyo del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona al Proyecto, que en su inicio, ya cuenta con el apoyo de Franciscanos de Catalunya (www.franciscans.cat), precursores del vino, en la Baja y Alta California. Los paises en los que se iniciará CONCORDIA, son Georgia y el estado de Baja California (México), y en preparación: Azerbaijan, Moldavia, Israel y Chile. Tras esta cita, el proyecto se va a presentar, a diferentes instituciones públicas y privadas, para sumar apoyos y colaboraciones. Proyecto CONCORDIA, se presentará oficialmente al público, en una exposición que se celebrará en Barcelona, y será punto de partida, para la primera expedición a uno de los paises citados. Finalizada la expedición, se organizará una del pais visitado a Barcelona, para exponer su arte contemporáneo y sus mejores vinos. Jano Asociación, cumple con este proyecto uno de sus fines, la promoción de las artes plásticas, contribuyendo mediante este recíproco y novedoso maridaje, a la divulgación del arte contemporáneo, junto a los mejores vinos de Catalunya, a paises que tienen una gran tradición vinícola y artística.
